Basics

What is txtpod?

txtpod turns articles, links and PDFs into podcast episodes. Save something once, txtpod extracts clean text and narrates it with ultra realistic AI voices, then delivers each episode to your own private podcast feed so you can listen in any podcast app, in txtpod for iOS, or in your browser.

How is txtpod different from text-to-speech apps?

txtpod doesn't lock you into another player. It creates a private podcast feed, so your narrated articles show up next to your regular shows in Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts or any app that supports RSS.

How is txtpod different from read-later apps?

txtpod is focused on listening. It converts articles to audio and sends them to your podcast app rather than building another reading list you have to manage.

Is txtpod a podcast player?

txtpod has its own player, but it isn't a podcast client for public shows. It generates a personal podcast feed of your narrated articles that you can also play in Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts and more.

How do I save an article?

Use the iOS share sheet from any app, paste a link into txtpod, import a PDF, drag the "Save to txtpod" bookmarklet into your desktop browser's bookmarks bar, or connect Instapaper, Matter or Readwise.

Can I use txtpod in the browser?

Yes. Log in to the txtpod web app with the same Apple or Google account you use on iOS to add articles and listen from any browser on any computer. Account creation and Premium happen in the iOS app.

What is Explore?

Explore lets you ask about any topic. The AI researches, writes and narrates a full-length podcast episode for you — you choose the complexity, language, style and length.

What are daily news briefs?

Pick your favorite topics and delivery days. txtpod researches the web and sends a concise, automatically generated daily episode with the latest stories into your personal feed.

Can txtpod turn PDFs into audio?

Yes. Import a PDF and txtpod converts it into a clean audio episode you can listen to anywhere — useful for documents you never find time to read.

Do you offer summaries?

Yes. txtpod can generate optional AI summaries so you get the key ideas from any article before you listen or read.

What about paywalled articles?

txtpod works with publicly accessible pages. Respect site terms and your subscriptions when saving links.

Add your feed to a podcast app

Your private feed URL is in txtpod under the You tab — tap the share icon to copy it. Paste it into any app that supports RSS:

How do I add the feed to Apple Podcasts?

Copy your feed URL from txtpod. In Apple Podcasts, go to Library → the ••• menu → Add a Show by URL…, paste the link and confirm. Your episodes download like any other podcast.

How about Overcast?

In Overcast, tap +Add URL and paste your txtpod feed link. New episodes appear automatically as you save articles.

How about Pocket Casts?

In Pocket Casts, go to ProfileAdd Private Feed (or use the search field to paste a feed URL) and paste your txtpod link.

Can I add my feed to any other player?

Any app that supports adding a podcast by RSS URL works — Castro, Spotify (via RSS where supported), and more. Paste the same private feed link.

Is the podcast feed private?

Yes. Each account gets a private RSS feed intended only for your personal use in your podcast app. Your saved articles stay tied to your account.

Can I listen offline?

Yes. Episodes download in your podcast app for offline listening, exactly like any other show.

Voices, languages & customization

How many voices and languages are available?

There are 30+ natural AI voice styles across 20+ languages. Choose a favorite voice, or use Shuffle so each episode gets a different one.

Can txtpod translate articles automatically?

Yes. Articles you save can be automatically translated into your preferred language and narrated using a natural local voice — set your target language in Settings.

Can I change the voice or language per episode?

Pick a default voice or Shuffle, and set your translation language in Settings before converting. Playback speed is controlled by your podcast player or the txtpod player.

Can I customize my podcast cover?

Yes. Choose a color and symbol for your artwork and name your feed. The cover appears in txtpod and in any podcast app you subscribe from.

Does txtpod integrate with read-later tools?

Yes — Instapaper, Matter and Readwise. Your saved reads flow into txtpod so you don't have to save things twice.

How txtpod compares to other tools

Save articles directly or connect services like Instapaper, Readwise and Matter. If you're looking for a Speechify alternative that gives you a personal podcast, txtpod is a listen-later app that turns text to speech and delivers a private RSS feed with natural, high quality voices in many languages.

Speechify alternative

Unlike a typical text-to-speech reader, txtpod creates a private podcast feed so episodes appear in Apple Podcasts, Overcast and Pocket Casts. Ultra realistic AI voices with 30+ styles across 20+ languages.

Instapaper & Matter alternative

txtpod isn't a read-later app — and it doesn't lock audio inside its own reader. It turns saved articles into audio and delivers them to the podcast player you already use, so you listen hands free. It also integrates with Instapaper and Matter if you want to keep using them.

Readwise alternative

txtpod focuses on listening. Save links, convert to audio, and play them in your existing podcast workflow — and sync your Readwise articles into txtpod if you already use it.

Pocket alternative

Since Pocket shut down, txtpod works as an alternative that goes further: your saved articles become audio published to a private podcast you can hear in any player.

NaturalReader alternative

NaturalReader is a solid text-to-speech tool. txtpod is different because it outputs a private RSS feed, so your narrated articles live in your podcast app with playlists, downloads and speed control — narrated by high quality AI models.

Account, Premium & privacy

What's free and what's Premium?

The free tier includes 3 article conversions, 3 translations and 3 PDF conversions. Premium Pass unlocks unlimited conversions plus Explore episodes, daily news briefs, AI summaries, Home Screen widgets, Instapaper/Matter/Readwise integrations and a custom podcast cover.

How do I subscribe or cancel?

Premium Pass is purchased in the iOS app and billed through your Apple account. Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open the txtpod paywall in the iOS app and tap Restore purchases while signed in with the Apple ID you bought it with.

How do I sign in?

Sign in with Apple or Google. The same account works in the iOS app and the web app, so your podcast artwork, feed and episodes follow you.

Is my data private?

Your feed is personal to you and your saved articles stay tied to your account. See the privacy policy for details.

How do I get help or send feedback?

Email info@txtpod.app — Cristian, the maker of txtpod, will get back to you.
